A close relative of Drosera menziesii with orange flowers grows west of the Darling Scarp. This variety prefers slightly drier niches than the regular pink flowered form, growing in sandy or clayey substrates in better-drained heathland. Where both orange and pink forms grow together, the plants freely hybridize to form specimens with cerise-coloured blooms. Like many orange-flowered sundews, the plants are beetle pollinated.
