Drosera pycnoblasta is a pygmy sundew found in arid regions of south west Western Australia. Its specific epithet refers to its distinctive stipular bud, which consists of overlapping thick stipules which form a globe-like structure (pycnos = densely packed, blastos = bud). I observed this species growing in deep white sand in mallee north of Ravensthorpe, alongside Drosera zonaria.
