The purple-flowered bladderworts of SE Australia are closely related and hybrids occasionally occur where two species grow together. In this large swamp in the Grampians, both Utricularia barkeri and U. beaugleholei were present. This specimen is likely to represent a natural hybrid between the two species. The speckled upper corolla lip and angular palate are reminiscent of U. barkeri whereas U. beaugleholei confers an extra-wide flare and extra ridges at the palate.
