There are few plants as beautiful as the red-flowered form of Drosera cistiflora. The blooms are coloured scarlet red with inky green centres and reach up to 5cm in diameter. The plants are typical of the species with an erect stem emerging from a ground-hugging basal rosette, both adorned with thin leaves. The form is as rare as it is stunning, growing only in a few small patches of remnant sand fynbos in the flats near Darling north of Cape Town, South Africa.
